WCW: Angela Rye
Welcome to my Woman Crush Wednesdays (WCW) where I’ll be celebrating the black women I stan (and you should too).
This week’s WCW is the outspoken and truth serving intellectual clapback queen, Angela Rye.
She’s an attorney and the Principal and CEO of IMPACT Strategies, a political advocacy firm in Washington, DC.
A political commentator on CNN and an NPR political analyst.
Who stands up for what and who she believes in and puts people in their place, as needed.
She’s also the host of popular podcast, On One with Angela Rye.
Other accolades include:
Co-founding IMPACT, an organization that seeks to encourage young professionals in three core areas: economic empowerment, civic engagement, and political involvement. The organization has quickly become a powerful voice and advocate for today's young professionals of color nationwide.
She has also served as the Coordinator of Advocacy and Legislative Affairs at the National Association for Equal Opportunity in Higher Education as well as executive director and general counsel to the Congressional Black Caucus for the 112th Congress.
And once worked in the district office of Congresswoman Auntie Maxine Waters.
And this isn’t even half of the achievements listed on her website!
And she was born with the the political and social justice bug as the daughter of Seattle community activist, Eddie Rye, Jr.
Angela, I rock with you because you undoubtedly have the black community’s best interests in mind as you move. You unapologetically tell it like it is and don’t hold back for anyone. You’re a leader in the black community and even though you’re not in it for the praise, you don’t get the credit and appreciation that you deserve for representing us such intent and doing so in an intelligent and graceful manner. Your fierceness and lack of fear is admirable. I appreciate your intentional efforts to be the voice for marginalized voices and the systematically oppressed. Thank you, queen. Keep fighting the good fight!
